Organic Austrian Crescent Fingerling Certified seed potatoes – Grow your own!
The Austrian Crescent fingerling potato is also known as kipfel, the German word for a croissant. Croissants have the butter baked in, but we recommend slathering your roasted fingerlings! Austrian Crescent has great potato flavor in potato salads or simply boiled or steamed, it can be combined with French Fingerling and Red Thumb for a perfect rainbow potato salad. firm and waxy, or delicious simply boiled or steamed.
The potatoes are firm and waxy with a smooth, yellow-tan skin and light yellow flesh, although some people note the skin can be bitter. Austrian Crescent grows prolific yields and produces tubers as long as 10″, with some weighing as much as 7oz each.
Potatoes can be planted in early to mid- May, as long as the ground can be worked and the soil is starting to warm. The potato tubers are tender to the cold in transport so seed potatoes are available for pick up at the farm in Mid-April onwards.
