What is a CSA?

A CSA is like a subscription program for vegetables! CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture and is a term that’s been in use since 1984 when farmers started establishing CSAs to skip the middleman and bring produce straight to their local communities. Our customers make a financial pledge at the beginning of the season to support purchasing seeds and equipment, and in return you receive produce as its grown and harvested. By purchasing your share ahead of time, you become a partner in our endeavour and we give you the best the farm has to offer throughout the year. Please contact us if you have any questions about the CSA model!

How we grow

We grow all our food organically from non-GMO seeds in the most sustainable fashion possible. We are dedicated to soil preservation, mindful water management and being an equitable employer.

How it Works

Signup

Our Summer CSA is a vegetable box program consisting of 20 weekly boxes of mixed seasonal vegetables and some herbs. We will select the items for each box based on what is in-season at the time, and will include plenty of variety as the season goes on. The first Summer CSA pick up is the second week of June, and we will deliver the boxes weekly to our central pick-up locations in Cambridge and Waterloo.

Harvest

We will provide regular emails throughout the season to update you on the farm, plus provide recipes and suggestions of how to prepare delicious dishes from the veggies currently on offer. Harvest and delivery days are Tuesdays and Thursdays. We will provide advanced notice on the weekend prior of the veggies you can expect to receive the following week so you can shop accordingly. You will also have an opportunity to swap out veggies you don’t want.

Pickup

Shares are delivered for free to our community pick-up locations at 350 Conestoga Blvd in Cambridge and 455 Phillip St in Waterloo on Tuesdays and Thursdays. We also have free farm pickup on Friday evenings. For a fee of $7/week we will deliver your share to a cooler on your porch if you live in the Tri-City area. If you can recruit 3 friends (4 shares total) to pick up at your home, we will designate your home as a pickup point and you will get delivery for free!

Enjoy

A small box will contain 6, and a large box 9 items, with the exact amount varying based on the season. A small is perfect for an individual or a busy family and a large is great for a champion veggie eater or a larger family!

What our customers are saying

We love the support and we love to hear from you!

Throughout the season my family enjoyed the superior flavour of organically grown crops; and the opportunity to buy free range chickens was a delicious bonus!

The taste, quality and variety cannot be matched in any grocery store.  Add to that the convenience of local delivery.

Jennifer, Waterloo

Being new residents to Waterloo Region, the CSA at Fresh Ayr Farm was a wonderful way to feel connected to our community.

Kristina, Cambridge

Our weekly delivery of freshly harvested, delicious vegetables from Fresh Ayr Farm brings me back to those wonderful summer days when I grew up on a farm.

Jennifer, Waterloo

Fresh Ayr Farm is amazing. Their fresh-picked vegetables were so good that we made them the centerpiece of our meals each week.
